Grünerløkka!
Grünerløkka is a
central district of Oslo, and one of the oldest parts.
Hardly any new architecture is interfering with the image of the more
than 100
years old buildings. Beauteful parks are popular recreation and meeting
areas for habitants and visitors. The largest river in Oslo, Akerselva,
finds its way through Grünerløkka. Along the riverside idylllic paths
offer opportunities for recreation and, for instance, dogwalking.
The two main streets
in Grünerløkka, Markveien and Thorvald Meyers gate,
are very bustling, espscially at summertime. These two streets in
addittion to the
parks, and the squares Schous plass, Olaf Ryes plass and Birkelunden
offer a variety to outdoor life.
Grünerløkka is also wellknown
for its rich cultural and social life.
You may enjoy meals from Norwegian, foregin or crossover cuisine at all
prices in the numerous restaurants, and coffee shops.
Or may be just a drink in one of the pubs. Grünerløkka does not really
awake until 10 - 11 a.m. but
keeps going on until the restaurants
close around 3 - 4 a.m.
Grünerløkka Minigolf park
is situated at the corner of Thorvald Meyers gate
and Søndregate - at the down town part of the Grünerløkka. Opening hours
normally 12 - 21, depending on the weather conditions.
